Once the Linux issue is fixed I'll try HQPlayer and report back.
HQPLAYER DOWNSAMPLE DSD PATCH
However, DSD256 is currently not possible via the mR due to the lack of a Linux patch for the Mutec. This will be PC, Ethernet, microRendu, Mutec, Devialet. Would be interested if folks with Mutec or other reclockers have found a big improvement with HQ player in the signal chain. I have found the FIR, sinc and Closed form filters work well for classical/jazz.īut having said all that I am leaning towards feeding the system with plain old 16/44.1 - considering Devialet hardware probably has the computing power to perform signal processing well - I wonder if leaving the DSP to the Devialet achieves perhaps balance between detail, sound stage, speed and musicailty. The PCM upsampling (as well as DSD) gives you many choices of filtering and dither which initially is a bit overwhelming (for a non engineer!) but the experimentation is fun and seems to alter space around instruments, soundstage size and the speed of transients. The HQ player DSD64 and 128 upsampling sounds a tad tighter and more articulated than Roon DSP the sound of which is too warm for my tastes.

Roon to HQplayer to Mutec USB to Devialet (the roon to HQplayer part btw was quite straightforward to setup) Just started playing around with HQplayer:
